The form at the end of this Email has details about how to contribute. The Caitlin Ben-Dror Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to promote and facilitate equestrian dressage for young riders. Dressage can be a very demanding sport for anyone and it is especially so for young riders due to the physical, mental and financial challenges. The Caitlin Ben-Dror Memorial Scholarship Fund will be utilized to support young riders with financial needs in the hope it will help them succeed with both their equestrian and life goals. Caitlin Ben-Dror was an extremely talented and dedicated young rider whose life was cut short in a serious automobile accident just one day before her nineteenth birthday. Caitlin grew up breathing, eating and sleeping dressage since she was a small child. Her mother, who is also a gifted rider and trainer, started Caitlin riding at an early age. Caitlin’s goal was to represent her country in international equestrian competition and she was on-track when tragedy struck on November 20, 2004. Caitlin was living in Ringoes, NJ working with the well known dressage rider Dr. Cesar Parra. She had achieved such goals as 2001 CAMDA Rider of The Year, 2002 4th level Young Rider high score of the year, and 2003 BLM 4th level Junior Young Rider Champion. In 2004, she competed in a national championship, Dressage at Devon, on her horse Navarro. Caitlin was a talented and much loved rider, teacher, trainer and friend. This scholarship will give other young riders the chance to live out their dreams, the way Caitlin desired to live out her dreams. If you wish to help sponsor a class at the show or can donate a prize please fill out the information below and mail it to: CAMDA C/O Deb Cousin, 13438 Bonair Rd, Glen Rock, PA 17327. Well, the elections are upon us again. If you have been watching the news or any television stations at all, you will have heard at least once, "If you do not vote, you are empowering those who will vote." There are no truer statements. Please do not forget to exercise your voting rights at the polls today. Next Tuesday, November 9, 2004, MDA will be holding its own election. Everyone should have gotten a ballot in the mail by now. If you have not, please contact Jean Bosley ,Jean.Bosley@phh.com, as soon as possible. If you do not think that your ballot will not reach Fred Brundick by November 9th, please bring your ballot with you to the meeting. Remember the above quote and use your right to vote. If you are not sure who to vote for, please read the biographies listed elsewhere on this website. If you are still not sure, try to evaluate who gives greater service to the club, and who would be the best represenative for MDA. Whom you elect says a lot about our club, and please remember, your vote does count and you can make a difference. By Judi Provencal

The Washington International Horse Show will have its "Barn Night" this year on October 28. This year the WIHS will give many door prizes to the club with the most team spirit. The biggest prize is a mule tractor. No, this prize is not one that you will have to feed hay. There are many other fine door prizes as well. The night also includes a dressage demonstration of a Freisian and a side-saddle ride with a Lippizan stallion. There will also be terrier races, barrel racing, western reining and the popular Gambler's Choice open jumping class. MDA is trying to get enough people together to go down to the MCI center by bus. The bus is a luxury bus with power rooms, reclining seats, and individual tape players. The bus will leave from Harford Mall and make a stop at the Park and Ride in Timonium. The price of admission will be $25.00 and the cost of the bus will be $17.00 per person. Please contact Margaret Scarff at 410-692-6921 as soon as possible if you are interested in going to the WHIS show. By Margaret Scarff

You can! Because the MDA has a web-based publishing system, anyone who has the login ID and password can publish articles to the MDA web site, for categories such as News, Upcoming Events, Young Riders, Articles, etc, just by filling in a form. It's very easy. You go to the MDA publishing site, select your name from the dropdown list box, enter your title, and the contents of the article. You can even take an article from a Word document, copy and paste it into the web form, and submit. You can even "test" your article before it is published to preview how it will look. Then, if you want to change it around, you just "edit" it again, and preview it until you are happy with it. The title of the article will show up right on the MDA front page after it is published. This system is so simple to use, our members have the ability to share up to the minute information, and make it available to the general horse community. In fact, we are so pleased with how this works, we will have the author of this tool, Linda Elliott, give a demo at the next MDA meeting, April 1st, at Forest Hill Elementary School at 7:30. Come and see how easy it is to update our web site's content by using this convenient tool over the web. |
