Membership Year
The membership year runs from January 1st through December 31st.

Exceptions:

a. When dues are submitted to renew an existing membership
b. When dues from a new member are received after November 1, in which case membership will automatically begin on January 1st and end on December 31st. Refunds of dues will not be made to members resigning during the fiscal year nor to members who have been suspended or expelled by the Executive Board during the fiscal year.

Membership Types and Criteria
Senior
Individuals who have reached their twenty-first birthday as of December 1st of the previous calendar year. Senior members are entitled to vote at all General Membership meetings, may hold office and may participate in all MDA activities for which they are eligible. They must be a member for one year prior to holding office.
Junior/Young Rider
Individuals who have not reached their twenty-first birthday as of December 1st of the previous calendar year. Junior/Young Rider members are entitled to vote at all General Membership meetings, may hold office and may participate in all MDA activities for which they are eligible.
Patron
Individuals who wish to support the MDA. May not vote or hold office, may participate in non-riding activities of the MDA under non-member rates and conditions.
Life
Individuals of any age. Life members are entitled to vote at all appropriate meetings of the MDA, may hold office and may participate in all MDA activities for which they are eligible.
Honorary Life
Such persons as the general membership of the MDA shall from time to time elect on the basis of outstanding services to the MDA over an extended period of time. Honorary Life members will not be obligated to pay dues. Honorary Life members are entitled to vote at all General Membership meetings of the MDA, may hold office and may participate in all MDA activities for which they are eligible.
Temporary Membership
This membership was instituted for persons applying for membership on the Internet. The intention of such persons is to become permanent members (for the current membership year), and will mail their checks to the membership chairman within 30 days. During the 30 day period, temporary members may attend all MDA meetings and functions, but may not participate in mounted activities (for insurance purposes). Temporary memberships will be identified by their membership number; it will be a "500" series number. When the check has been received by the membership chairman, a membership packet will be mailed to the new or renewed member containing the permanent membership card, an Omnibus, and a newsletter if the member selected the newsletter option.
